Palisades-Kepler State Park

Just a 15-minute drive southeast from Cedar Rapids, Palisades-Kepler State Park is located near the town of Mount Vernon along the banks of the Cedar River. When you need a getaway from the city, immerse yourself in nature with Palisades-Kepler’s 840 acres featuring towering bluffs, dramatic ravines, vast forests, and an array of native flora and fauna. Bring your hiking boots for a hike on the Park’s six miles of gorgeous trails.

A boat launch ramp provides access to the Cedar River for boating or fishing for bluegill, bass and channel catfish. Picnic shelters, campsites and cabins are available for reservation throughout the Park. Exposed rocks revealing fossils and remnants of ancient Indian mounds transport you through the Park’s extensive past. Palisades-Kepler makes the perfect natural escape for a ½ day hike or a week-long vacation.

The Play Station


With three-levels featuring a toddler play area, obstacle course, maze, rock climbing wall, lazer tag, arcade, and more, The Play Station is eastern Iowa’s largest family fun center. The Play Station has been family owned and operated since 1993 and contains over 20,000 square feet of adventure. The café offers a great selection of kid-friendly snacks, appetizers, entrees and desserts such as nachos, wings, chicken strips, pizza, burgers, Icees and root beer floats!

The Play Station also makes a great venue for birthday parties, fundraisers, and other group events. The facility’s staff will assist with greeting guests, set up and handle the mess so you can focus on your guests. For more fun in the area, Lindale Mall, Legion Disc Golf Course, Cedar Rapids Bowling Center, GoFree Escape Rooms, Super Skate roller skating rink, and dozens of dining options are located within a short distance of The Play Station.

Indian Creek Nature Center

Near the southeastern edge of Cedar Rapids, Indian Creek Nature Center is a 210-acre nature preserve located near the confluence of the Cedar River and Indian Creek. The Center’s mission is to promote conservation practices and foster ecologically-responsible interaction between humans and nature. Welcoming over 40,000 visitors annually, Indian Creek Nature Center is a popular destination for school field trips and weekend outings.

Trails cutting across the park offer excellent views of prairie, woodlands and wetlands ecosystems featuring soaring hardwood trees, lush plant life, wildflowers, and a variety of wildlife from deer and fox, to wild turkey and great horned owls. The Center’s historic barn and modern Amazing Space building offer a host of informative exhibits, classes, programs, and events promoting nature and conservation.

Czech Village/New Bohemia District

Located across the Cedar River from the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, Czech Village/New Bohemia Historic Main Street District is a vibrant Cedar Rapids neighborhood featuring a wide variety of entertainment, dining, and shopping. The District is dedicated to preserving the rich Czech and Bohemian heritage of eastern Iowa, while fostering continued community growth and development.

AirFX Trampoline Park

With nearly 30,000 square feet of trampolines, outdoor mini golf, laser tag, ninja course, rock-climbing wall and more, AirFX Trampoline Park is ground zero for indoor fun.
